John Kofi Annan declares to Run for President of Ghana
DECLARATION TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT OF GHANA
My Beloved Ghanaians,
Today, as we celebrate the legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the Big Six, which marks Founder's Day, I, John Kofi Annan, present myself before you with a profound sense of humility, responsibility and determination to serve the good people of Ghana as President in 2028.
Fellow Ghanaian Youths, our nation, Ghana, is a country of great potentials endowed with human and natural resources. With good leadership, Ghana should have been a model of all in Africa and around the world. These potentials and resources have been reduced to nothing by bad governance, unemployment and looting rendering us hopeless and futureless. But I firmly believe that the time has come for us to rebuild a new Ghana for the betterment and prosperity of all Ghanaians.
In the pursuit of progress, we must recognize the potentials in us, the youths of Ghana, and the driving force behind our nation's today, tomorrow and the future. As we embark on this transformative journey, our primary focus will be on empowering every Ghanaian Youth through Education, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Industrialization.
Furthermore, we cannot ignore the crucial role of women in our society. With unwavering dedication, we will empower every Ghanaian woman, creating a platform for their active participation in all spheres of life.
A cornerstone of our vision will be to ensure job and entrepreneurship opportunities for all Ghanaians by creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, thereby generating employment opportunities and promoting economic growth.
To foster national wealth creation, we will look inwards and gradually move to become self-sufficient by investing in key sectors, such as education, healthcare, technology, agriculture and food production and infrastructural development.
Most importantly, in our pursuit of a new Ghana, good governance will be the bedrock on which we build. Transparency, accountability, and the rule of law will guide our actions, ensuring that the resources of our nation are utilized for the greater good, betterment and prosperity of all Ghanaians, including those yet unborn.
As we face the challenges ahead, I call on every Ghanaian citizen especially the Youths, who should be today's leaders, for us to unite and work together for the common goal of a prosperous Ghana.
Finally, I humbly call on every Ghanaian to begin drafting their individual manifesto as I have commenced drafting mine because our collective manifestos will become my manifesto.
"Every Ghanaian is a star and deserves an opportunity to shine in their lifetime".
God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong again.
Thank you.
John Kofi Annan
